1689 | Article | NLogan | My mom always included an orange with the candy. The picture of the mixed nuts looks like it came directly from my house with the exact nutcracker we had. Chocolate oranges and raspberry chocolate sticks are still a feature of my stockings and have been for years. We usually got coloring books, card games, and small toys included. | Dec 18, 2014
1694 | Article | NLogan | Dunno they looked like nuns a little because of the black and white but I think they are supposed to be elves. | NLogan's Retro Christmas | Dec 18, 2014
1696 | Article | NLogan | @vkimo what is really impressive is that neither of my parents could afford the presents they got me. My dad is a postal carrier and my mom a secretary. Now that I am an adult I wonder just how much debt they went into for those smiles on Christmas morning. | NLogan's Retro Christmas | Dec 19, 2014
1700 | Article | NLogan | The Life Saver Storybook is a must. Some years there was also a giant Hershey's Kiss. | Stocking Stuffers | Dec 19, 2014
1705 | Article | NLogan | Thanks Oldschool and Vapor. Can you guys guess which of my parents gave us the BB guns and cap guns and army gear? Divorce is a hard thing on kids with parents playing for the kid's affections and using the kids to get back at the former spouse. Most kids from divorced families have a higher divorce rate themselves. I have been lucky to be married to my best friend who also comes from divorced parents (hers divorced while we were dating in college)for nearly 15 years now. If anything I learned that no matter what my parents loved me. That time spent together was precious. That feelings of love can be remembered by seeing or picking up childhood objects and remembering the circumstances and feelings when they were received. Maybe that is why I am so nostalgic. Because it is not just HE-MAN, Snake-Eyes, or Han Solo it is a reminder of my parents' sacrifice and devotion to two little boys who couldn't possibly understand what was happening and needed desperately something to cling to to make them happy. | NLogan's Retro Christmas | Dec 19, 2014
1707 | Article | NLogan | One of these days vkimo will be back on the west coast. He will then have access to his childhood pictures again. I hope he chooses to use them in a future article. So that we can finally see the man behind the mask. I know that he is not pictured here because none of these pictures are of his decade. The closest one is 1985 based upon the Transformers Autobot dress up playset pictured. | vkimo's Christmas Special | Dec 19, 2014
1709 | Article | NLogan | There are worse fates. Moss Man at least smells like a pine tree. Your celebrity here on the the retro boards will not be forgotten but could be cemented for ever in the halls of history with a picture to focus on. Think George Washington or Abe Lincoln. Likely no one will forget what Mona Lisa looks like. Your third eye only makes it more memorable and endearing. | vkimo's Christmas Special | Dec 19, 2014
1713 | Article | NLogan | Dancing Coke can, NES, torn knee jeans, mini trampoline seat, possible King Hiss figure or WF Wrestling Superstars Terry Funk in the basket, Power Punch Batman, two plush generic cars, generic wooden bead maze, a dead parrot or upside-down horse head behind you, and some battleship looking toy on the floor, now that is what I am talking about. It was actually a triple-dog-dare as I went straight for the throat but then backed off as I thought it might be too harsh. Nice picture. | vkimo's Christmas Special | Dec 20, 2014
1715 | Article | NLogan | I just realized two pictures didn't show up that I thought I had included. One was the advertisement of the Hardees' toys for Mickey's Christmas Carol. The other was a small plastic nativity that my other grandma had that I remember from the 1960s.

| NLogan's Retro Christmas | Dec 20, 2014 | |
1721 | Article | NLogan | You only left out 6 carrots for 8 reindeer, 9 if you include Rudolph. That would have been a bloodbath. That is a pretty cool looking Scooby Doo game that I had no idea even existed. Sometimes we must learn the hard way I got a chuckle out of both of you imagining your faces after tasting the bitter chocolate. | The Santa Diaries | Dec 20, 2014 |
