I know that in the Genesis version you could be knocked a LOOOONG way from your bike. It could take quite a bit of time to make it back... while you get pummeled by other racers.

That was one of the fun parts, pounding those poor schmucks who are just trying to get to their bike.

It's also fun beating the cop with the nightstick like a drum.

It was violence against law enforcement long before GTA made it popular.

And it's not just the other bikers that cause the player to fall off, it's also the turns.
