When I first joined RetroJunk in 2008, purely by chance I ran into a Saturday morning cartoon called, "Friends and Heroes", on the Trinity Broadcasting Network, (TBN).

Believe it or not, this old cartoon series came back to me after watching "The Acolyte", because both series follow the story of two girls caught in situations well beyond their years.

Only recently have I learned that many of the people who worked with George Lucas on the Star Wars Trilogy, from 1977 through 1983, also worked on the production of the Friends and Heroes television series.

This connections makes sense because Friends and Heroes tells the story of the Jewish rebellion against the Roman Empire in Judea. The parallels with Star Wars is astounding!

Here's a clip from 2007. Notice how the engagement of the narrative in this old cartoon is of a higher quality than "The Acolyte", a newly released live action production.
