Today marks a very special date in the Transformers universe. Twenty years ago today marked the debut of the Transformers: Robots in Disguise cartoon on Fox Kids. While forgotten today, the cartoon was the first Transformers cartoon in the United States that didn't take place in the G1 continuity. Something that hadn't happened in the seventeen years since the original animated series debuted back in 1984.

The cartoon didn't do much since it was only a one season show back in Japan. Plus airing issues due to 9/11 and the toyline being one of the worst in franchise history led to it largely being forgotten following its intial release. A year later however we get a much better reboot of the franchise in the form of Transformers: Armada.

yeah, i really have no recollection of watching the fox kids one, i guess i was more into the other shows they had on the block at the time. as for armada that aired during the time when i first found out about adult swim having anime, and needing to recording them on vhs because of how late they would show because i was still finishing up high school

I never watched it, but I did watch a few anime in Fox Kids' last days mostly Medabots and Mon Colle Knights. I remember seeing promos for this show.
