In 1985, 5 kids in Seattle, Washington formed a band that stood out for the time. Combining their influences from Heavy Metal, Punk Rock, and the still fairly new at the time Alternative Rock scene (which didn't even catch on until the next decade). The band, Green River. Despite having very little mainstream impact, the band invented Grunge years before Kurt Cobain Nirvana made the genre stagnant I mean brought it into the mainstream (that said, the best Grunge bands the 90's saw when it went mainstream were usually the ones nobody talked about like L7, Lunachicks, and Love Battery (featuring Jason Finn whom would later join the 3 hit wonder Alternative Rock trio Presidents of the United States of America) other than that, I'm all about Grunge from its early days eons before it became obnoxious merchandise at your local Spencer's Drunk Druggie and Meth Head Shop). Anyway, if you want something less corporate sounding and more raw, then Green River is for you. Here's one of my favourite songs from these underdogs
