Primarily one of the more unsung bands of the British Invasion (It didn't really help that early on their music could be released in the US but they were otherwise banned from touring in the US until 1970), The Kinks aside from having only two major hits on Mainstream Rock radio (You Really Got Me and Lola. Well, they had 3 if you count the more superior All Day and All of the Night, but even that song barely gets attention) were one of those bands that really helped pave the way for Punk and Alternative Rock.
