Back in the late 1980's, Crest Toothpaste had these sparkly looking anthropomorphic toothpaste persons that tried to make teeth brushing quote/unquote "hip" and/or "with it" for the youngins and to promote Crest Sparkle for kids (the toothpaste that made kids from the era wonder just what chemicals were in the toothpaste glitter). Unfortunately these guys never caught on and they were all but phased out into obscurity. For years, I thought I made up these mascots in my mind as nobody seemed to remember them. I just brought up Crest Sparkle for kids and the response was usually "Oh yeah that stuff was gross" but never about their advertising campaign for the Crest Sparkle guys. Then I remember years later, my mom made me watch Rain Man (Which as an autistic individual, I hate and don't even consider an accurate depiction of what autism looks like. I would go into why but this is already lengthy as is, so I'll just say to me, that and Sheldon Bazonger (I think that's his name? He's that manufactured hipster nerd on television what got one of his shows cancelled this year which is good because his "jokes" could make the laugh track on Full House cringe to death) are the autism equivalent of minstrel shows or even the Native American stereotypes scene from Peter Pan. Moving on) and I remember in one scene where he and his brother are at a motel, a commercial for Crest Sparkle comes on the tv. Turns out I did not imagine the forgotten mascots. They recently came back into my mind recently for god knows what reason and I had to Google to make sure one final time that what I wasn't hallucinating. What I looked up was indeed legit. Anyway, here are the long forgotten Crest Sparkle guys
