Weather you consider the 2000s "retro" is all purely a matter of perspective. I know some people, both on the internet, and in real life, who grew up with that era.

But I've said this in another thread, and I'll say it again here as it still rings true: Most of us on Retrojunk considered the 90s retro at this time in 2009... hell, even a few years before that, we were all viewing the 90s as retro. Now, in 2019, the same amount of time that has passed by where the 90s were considered retro in 2009 has now passed over in the 2000s. If we considered the 90s retro in 2009, but don't consider the 2000s retro in 2019, that to me feels like a double standard.

I think part of the reason for this weird double standard existing is just do to the time frame of when this community began. We didn't exist in the late 90's. It was a lot easier for us to except the 90's being retro because our existence began after it ended.

To phrase it a little better, it's hard to view the decade in which we first started talking about the past and how much the modern day world sucks is now suddenly so long ago that it isn't the modern day anymore.

Say we were justing starting up this community today. It would likely be a lot easier for us to view the 2000's as being retro because there wasn't a time where we were openly hating on it for not being as great as the past.

For as good of a show as it was, I don't think I would really consider it to be a cornerstone of the 2000's. Especially since it was such a short lived show.

I would argue maybe Avatar and some of the shows that Toonami aired during the first half of the decade.

What about songs in the 2000's?

I know this must bring back memories for some.

I have noticed quite a few Winx Club nostalgia review videos up on youtube and the show celebrated it's 15th anniversary this year.

Malcolm in the Middle captures the early-to-mid 2000s pretty well. Plus it's just a great show in its own right.

The women of New Vegas ask me a lot if there's a Mrs. New Vegas. Well, of course there is! You're her. And you're still just as perfect as the day we met.

I love Malcolm in the Middle. It made my Sunday nights complete.

danny phantom was and still is an often remembered show of the 2000s for its characters and writing and was much more manageable to watch after the fairly oddparents cartoon was starting to decline in quality.

though for me it's kind of hard getting back into after as of recent events butch hartman has made a bit of an ass of himself during one of his podcasts regarding a certain voice actress' suicide and him blaming tara strong for it.

conker's bad fur day from 2001 was rare's swan song to the n64 and was quite possibly one of the best n64 games released. it had a singing pile of dung as a boss, numerous movie references, an alcoholic scarecrow, bloody violence and fully voiced dialogue all on a single cartridge.
