Looks like I'll be catching the first part of this epic two-parter this Saturday afternoon. Really looking forward to it.

Reviews seem pretty positive, and I'm anticipating death and failure on the part of the heroes. But hopefully it still satisfies.

I think we all knew Shaggy would show up at some point. You can't keep the Rogers brothers apart when cosmic entities are involved.

I watched this on Saturday afternoon.

My thoughts:

I enjoyed it. But in all honesty I think it's a bit much to ask fans to wait a year to see the conclusion to the events of this film. The ending of a film, whether it is positive or negative, should at least leave the viewer with some sense of closure... at least enough to carry them through to the next film. This film lacks any closure at all. It's like reading an unfinished chapter of a book, instead of a whole chapter that leads into the next. This is especially glaring in today's culture, where we are getting used to being able to binge watch everything to it's conclusion if we feel it's necessary.

That being said, it was a fun romp. Despite the dark circumstances, there is some genuinely funny humor and some upsetting, gut-punching moments. I was glad that Thanos was not a cookie-cutter bad guy (like Steppenwolf in Justice League... with generic motivations that are just tossed in). You actually kind of "get" him, which makes the whole movie much more interesting.

The battles are pretty epic. You'd expect nothing less at this point. Each character seems to get just enough time to shine. It doesn't feel bloated, like you might expect.

Now for some spoiler-filled discussion. Simply highlight the area below the dividing line if you have seen the film, or don't care to be spoiled to a certain extent...

You've been warned!

First off, I really came away angry with the sheer stupidity of Star Lord. Seriously... yes, obviously he is upset with Thanos for killing Gamora, but if the others have nearly subdued him and practically wrestled the gauntlet from Thanos, wouldn't you (even then) think that exacting revenge would be best served with him minus the gauntlet... when you might actually stand a chance of kicking his butt?

Clearly Dr. Strange is up to something. This will surely develop in the next film, but I really think they could have stood to include some hint of this in an after credits scene. Instead we get nothing.

I have a feeling that Captain Marvel will end up taking/protecting the Infinity Gauntlet or some aspect of it at the end of the next film. She is probably the most likely hero for this duty to fall on.

I am liking the fact that this film has left the possibility open of the ultimate resolution being pretty similar to the comics. I might put money on Nebula getting the gauntlet off Thanos at the end of the next film.

No Hulk in the later parts of the film? What happened to that scene in the trailers where he's running behind Cap and the others in Wakanda? Another trick by Marvel.

This brief review is spoiler free, so go ahead and read it!

Just saw it last night, and I freaking loved it! Thanos ranks up with one of best villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside Loki and Ultron. You'd think a film with a truck load of stars may be an incoherent mess, but the Russo Brothers pulled it off. Engrossing, epic and emotional are the three words that I would best describe this film. More than worth the hype.

A robust 5 out of 5.

Groot's last line was translated by Gunn. It was Dad.

I almost can't see how it will be interesting given the Heroes that perished! Hopefully Hulk comes back with a vengeance! I'd like to see him step up and be more than eye candy.

@vkimo: There’s been talk of him becoming “Professor Hulk” in this next film
