Has anybody here seen this movie? I know it's hated by most people, but I actually enjoyed it for what it was, a very alternate take on the story of Mario and Luigi. While most of the movie's plot and even the look of the film had little to do with the actual games, I liked spotting the small references to the games that the filmmakers did include. I also found Bob Hoskins to be a solid choice to portray Mario.

The only big things that I would have changed about the film would be to give Luigi a mustache so that he resembled his video game counterpart more and to make Mario and Luigi actual brothers in the movie. I found the quick throwaway line about Luigi being adopted and raised by Mario to be both insignificant to the movie's plot and an unnecessary change from the games.

it's a guilty pleasure for me. the fat lady rocketing away on her jet shoes cracks me up every time just because of how stupid the scene is.

It's a fun movie.  The Yoshi animatronic was great, Bob Hoskins looked like the sprite from the first Super Mario Bros. game, and the Reebok branding on the Bob-omb's wind-up feet was just ridiculous enough.

I think if you look beyond the fact that this is supposed to be a Super Mario adaptation, and you look at as a whole different movie, it's not too bad. That's actually what the movie feels like to me, but with the Mario name slapped onto it.

Yes, I loved the animatronic Yoshi, as well.

I saw this film once early on a Saturday morning on TBS. I had no idea what the hell it was, but years later I found out it was a Super Mario Bros. film and I suddenly realized why everybody always talked crap on the Super Mario Bros. film.

I've never seen this movie, even though I have the dvd sitting only few feet from me as I type this.

Although I agree that casting Bob Hoskins as Mario is genius.

The women of New Vegas ask me a lot if there's a Mrs. New Vegas. Well, of course there is! You're her. And you're still just as perfect as the day we met.

I think this is the best way to watch this movie. It's actually kind of enjoyable as long as you don't expect it to be too similar to the games.

No kidding! Much better than Charles Martinet. I don't know what Nintendo is thinking with that cutesy garbage. Hopefully they are through with it on Link now.

I wasn't particularly fond of the casting of John Leguizamo, either. I thought he was okay but not great.
