I read the book a few months ago, and loved every page. The 2nd trailer dropped today and I'm looking forward to this more than Star Wars and the next Jurassic Park

Oh my. Pure cinematic heaven for the retrojunkie in us all.

I got goosebumps... FOR REAL!

I saw both Battletoads and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in that big group heading into battle, as well as Chun-Li, Chucky, and others in other scenes.

The book itself is VERY 80s after the adventure begins. I'm not surprised at some modern stuff because 1. It's the future and 2. Rights are a thing. I heard only reason Iron Giant is in there is because they couldn't get the rights to use Ultraman.

Yeah that doesn't surprise me. And you've got things like Mass Effect and Overwatch characters showing up. Still, if they can keep it mostly grounded in retro stuff, that's cool.

It looks like they do, but yeah, the rights thing is probably why we see more modern stuff.

I'm glad, the book had too many obscure Japanese references. The giant robot he picked in the book was some robot from a 70s robot live action deal. Iron Giant is sooooo much better, especially considering the American market that will be watching this.

Mr Magic
Steven Spielberg looks like he's still got it.

But I'd have to see the movie to find out.

The Tomatometer is looking pretty good for the film at the moment.

Anyone see it yet? I might go this Tuesday at night, hopefully it won't be too crowded.

I wanted to go this Saturday, but my pal can't make this weekend, and neither can my brother. So it looks like I'll be waiting until next weekend.
