Yeah, Ronnie Milsap is a real favorite of mine too.
Meanwhile I thought you guys would like to hear a song that I wanted to nominate for "The Great American Songbook" - but wiser heads talked me out of it, lol! Still, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap made quite an impression as the 60's drew to a close. These guys caused a national riot when they posed for a Civil War re-enactment picture as part of an album photoshoot. Every magazine and news broadcast carried clips and I was very impressed at the quality of the detail. But the boys were just having fun. It was also a reminder that in 1968 the Civil War wasn't really all that long in the past! Rebel or Yankee - these guys sure can sing!!! |

I've been on a Frank Sinatra kick lately. Just going to youtube and letting the playlist play. Right now it's on "Killing me softly"

 I've been in an early 70's groove lately and it surrounds "Josie and the Pussycats" from 1970. That early 70's sound is so unique but it's difficult to describe. One way I describe it now is, "The Sound of Philadelphia - TSOP". TSOP came into common usage in 1971 and describes a "soft soul" sound backed by a full orchestra with a lush string section. Think Barry White for a good example. My final year in middle school was filled with this type of music and it still has a hold on me even now.
