My mother took our dog to the vet yesterday. He did just fine, but she had to give him a sedative in order for him to be calm. When he came home, he was calm, lackluster and did everything he was asked.
So apparently the key to having a well behaved Beagle is to drug the hell out of them. *Insert funny signature here*
