The Rugrats Movie (1998) and Rugrats in Paris: The Movie (2000)

I don't know why but I decided to watch these two films for the first time since I was a kid. I bought a DVD collection of all three Rugrats films three years ago but just decided to watch them today.

Both films are pretty decent. They still hold up for the most part. It has that clever 90's-Nickelodeon humor that both kids and adults can laugh at. I was shocked at how short these films were. Both were only 80 minutes long (the second was just a couple minutes short of that mark). They fit a lot in for such a short run-time.

Since I decided to watch the end credits, I discovered for the first time that the first movie had an end credits scene tacked on at the very end of the movie.

Overall, not too shabby. Something to sit down and watch with the family.

Oh man, I haven't seen Rugrats in Paris since it came out in theaters (I think).

The women of New Vegas ask me a lot if there's a Mrs. New Vegas. Well, of course there is! You're her. And you're still just as perfect as the day we met.

Multiplicity

Don't clone yourself, folks. It'll just make your life difficult.

But yeah, it's a delightful, entertaining comedy made by the great Harold Ramis.

4 stars.

They're still great animated flicks after all these years.

Buckaroo Bonzai (1984)

It had a great cast, but the plot was uninteresting and incoherent. Best part was the walking scene at the end in the aqueduct.

A Quiet Place

Saw this the other night. It's... okay. The concept is interesting and it did have some thrilling moments in it. That being said, there are some major plot holes and unexplained things that ruin the film. There's a giant plot hole in the ending that ruins everything leading up to it. All the plot holes combined transform the film into a massive idiot plot.

I'd say give it a watch. It's okay for what it is, it's just not something you'll be begging to rewatch.

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

It was like they found the first 3 movies lying in a dump and salved them together. Everything was predictable from Rex saving the protagonist to eating the major villains. So many borrowed scenes like the girl in the dumb waiter trying to shut the door ala kitchen scene from the first movie. Then the dinos all escape and we get a Planet of the Apes scenario? Poop - glad I pirated this one!

A very interesting look at a D.C. area cable access "Horror Host" named Count Gore De Vol, and the actor who plays him, Dick Dyszel. He was huge in the late '70s, a bit of a regional celebrity. He was able to evolve with the times, moving to the internet in 1998 (long before streaming became a normal thing) and helping to inspire a plethora of new "Horror Hosts". His show is even heading back to television via Roku in the near future.

Fun interviews and tons of vintage footage. I HIGHLY recommend it.

P.S. The best thing about this is that the show is STILL on the web, and the website is absolutely a '90s creation (much like the look of our own little neck of the net).

Solo A Star Wars Story

This was probably the most enjoyable of the Disney era Star Wars movies for me. Just a simple joy ride from start to finish. I'm going to ignore Darth Maul and not even speculate on how Q'ra (sp?) was able to run around the Millennium Falcon as it barrel rolled through the Maw. Awesome seeing how Han won the ship and making the Kessel Run. Since Disney butchered the canon of Star Wars I no longer take it as seriously as I once did but did enjoy this romp in a galaxy far far away.

This is one that I enjoyed but really felt was unnecessary. This really wasn't a story that needed to be told.
