Dang! That sounds odd. Almost sounds like some sort of pinched nerve but never heard of one causing headaches like that. Reminds me of my wife's fibromyalgia when she overdid it with a mattock one year and now any stress to her shoulders gives her bad headaches.

I'm also trying to get back into a more consistent workout routine and watch what I eat. Taking care of an infant kind of demoralizes you but now that things are looking better I'm trying to crack down on these bad habits.

Yeah, kids seem to make eating healthy quite a bit more difficult. Takes a lot of willpower to overcome.

What's your job? I miss having a physical job. But I haven't been able to find one that can pay the bills lately!

Thanks man. The egg thing was kind of a breakthrough, but I've been doing other things too. I've cut way down on pasta and alcohol.

I read a book by Ray Kurzweil called TRANSCEND. I usually think he sucks. Like most "futurists" he basically writes science fiction, except with no plot, message, or characterization. That kind of writing is pretty worthless to me. But reading the synopsis of this book, it sounded useful so I got it. TRANSCEND stands for:
Talk with your doctor
Relaxation
Assessment
Nutrition Supplementation
Calorie Reduction
Exercise
New technologies
Detoxification

Now I feel like I'm pretty good at relaxation. And also exercise, not in a formal way but I am more active than a lot of people. New technologies (this refers to stem cell therapy and I think cryogenics) are very expensive. And the biggest part I got from detox was to drink tea every day, which I can and should do, but it requires a habit change. I don't drink coffee and never have so this is a routine I want to develop, but it is a challenge.

However. Calorie reduction has been very workable for me. I've replaced most of my pasta with vegetables and unproecssed grains like freekeh and barley. Portion control was a little tough in the beginning, but I got used to it and was able to cut down there as well. Just eating smaller amounts. I've been doing that for some years but have now extended the practice further. And I've replaced a meal here and there with an apple and an ounce of peanuts or almonds. Yet I still get cheese and meat and bread. Maybe in smaller amounts but still enjoyable.

I don't remember if mentioned in this thread before but I also quit smoking a couple of years ago.

I'm happy to share strategies or support fellow retro heads if I can.

I miss smoking and as much sugar and fat and booze as I used to consume but I think I'm also getting along pretty good. It can be done!

I work with a moving company. In the summer I will walk several miles a day just in stairs. I've been able to eat pretty badly and not look like it, but I definitely feel it. Hoping to clean up my act and avoid pointless "bored" eating. It's nice because the days never drag. Pay is alright ( I recently negotiated a raise) and there are tips. I also run a eBay store because the moving gig is definitely not enough to support my Yu-Gi-Oh habit.

lol

That's cool. I was a helper one summer. I prefer warehouse jobs though. I loaded trucks at RPS and later UPS, then refurbished old computers, then picked orders in a produce warehouse. (there was some retail stuff in between those) The produce place was crazy. 14 hours a day sometimes. If a normal day is 10,000 steps I would guess it was well over ten times that on Thursdays. I liked the work and I was very good at it (one guy called me Mr. 60... most guys pulled around 20 or 25) but I didn't do anything but work and sleep.

I know another guy who's a mover. He's also my tattoo guy. One day he needed help for an in-town move so he called me up. I watched that bastard just snatch up a whole typeset cabinet by himself and walk it off the truck and into the house. A big one and it was full of all the brass letters. Me and the other friend working for one day couldn't budge the thing two of us together.

Pointless eating has been a big thing for me too. Realizing the difference between eating for hunger and eating for no good reason (or just because omg this unhealthy thing tastes SO GOOD) has helped me reduce the intake. But now I think about food, like, all the time. I hope that will fade.

Well, I remembered to drink my green tea today. Only because it's my day off. That means I have also taste-tested some rum.   In addition I have eaten a grilled cheese sandwich with salami, 2 cookies, 2 big pretzels, and a piece of milk chocolate.

Salami in a grilled cheese sandwich? That's a new combination I have to try. I myself had a nice dinner consisting of grilled salmon and grilled scallops.

We just got through a blizzard which I'm hoping will be our last for the season. Shoveling was a decent workout, but once the weather gets warmer I want to start taking daily hikes and walks. It'll be a good a way to burn off some extra calories.

I highly recommend it. Best with muenster, provolone, or mozzarella. Ham and swiss is another good combo. I don't even particularly like either, but together and grilled, they're amazing.

Walking is great. Especially if you live somewhere with things to see in the area. Be it nature or architecture.

My wife has me using the system she is using which includes an app that tells you everything about your nutritional intake (calories, fat, carbs, etc.). All you have to do is enter the info of whatever you're eating when you eat it, and it will help you reach your goal (weight loss, muscle mass, whatever it may be). Pretty neat. It's called MyFitnessPal.
