Oh dear. Don't get me started. Well... too late.

Of course I used some of the standard lingo from the 80's... rad, wicked (still use that one), gnarly, etc.

But I also had some of my own homegrown lingo, or spins on existing lingo. For example:

Emawacken: Yeah, don't ask. Essentially this was a replacement for cursing when something didn't go my way.
Josh Off: Meaning "get lost", "get outta here", etc.
Eat One: Uhg. This was alluding to the person eating a part of someone's body that will not be gone into here.
Bite One: (See above)
Cut A Let: Pass gas, in other words.
Blobulous: Alluding to someone being overweight... how kind.
Lardhorg: (See above)

*Sigh*... this brings back unpleasant memories of me being unpleasant to others.

Also, the use of "you're gay" and calling people "fags" did not bring the wrath of the PC police down on you. We used those terms so often, I hate to think how despicable people would think us today. But we used them with no consideration for their meaning.

For an article to get a 19 with no pictures is amazing. That's probably one of the highest non photo articles on the site!

Will there ever be a time when "cool" is not an oft-used word?

@crow: Correct.

I still use the word "cool" to describe things, items and people I admire. I don't feel comfortable using the word "chill", which many people seem to prefer nowadays. Sometimes, I find myself using the word "babe" to describe an attractive woman, whereas most people now use the gender-neutral term "hottie". I found myself wondering why the 2004 VH1 mini-series "Retrosexual: The 80s" titled the last episode of the show "Hotties". I was thinking, "Why not call it Babes and Hunks"? After all, those words were used frequently in the 80s. I don't believe "hottie" was used back then.

Whoever named that episode "Hotties" is consumed by the 2000's.

I had a thread all about lingos in the my old User Forum "90's". But sadly, when my forum disappeared, so did the thread.
