41823Posting Youtube Videos.I'm using a Windows 10 laptop with Google Chrome and everything is up-to-date.  I can't find source mode, but I got to the embed button very easily.  The thing is that I copy/pasted the link rather than the embed code which I'm having trouble finding.  On every other site I go on this works to at least have a clickable link, but here there was just the URL with no way to click, just the text for the web address.bluegrassbaby86Jan 05, 2019View
41822Posting Youtube Videos.<p>bluegrassbaby86, what browser are you using? What operating system? What kind of device? (computer, phone, tablet)? I recommend using a full-fledged computer (desktop or laptop) if you have access to one. In my experience, many websites including youtube have functions and features that are not available or at least harder to find in mobile browsers. Alt text especially doesn't seem to be present, although I must again admit not knowing all the tools you might have. </p><p>Vaporman that's great news! I didn't see that button before, but I just tried it and it works great for me. I notice it opens an overlay style dialog in the same window. </p><p>bluegrassbaby can you find that button? </p>shakin steakJan 05, 2019View
41821Did you have Cable/Satellite as a child?<p>Oh yes. We absolutely had the giant dish in the yard. In fact, it’s still there... complete with a golf ball sized hole in the mesh that got there from, you guessed it, a golf ball. </p><p><br></p><p>I watched all the good channels in their infancy thanks to that dish. And then much later, when the channels started charging for access, I discovered the wonderful world of live feeds and little known shopping channels. I got to watch my favorite basketball team play home games whenever I came home from college on the weekends (Golden State, long before they were dominant). </p>Vaporman87Jan 05, 2019View
41820Did you have Cable/Satellite as a child?Growing up we definitely had cable, but at some point my parents must have stopped paying for it because I distinctly remember a period of relying on PBS and WB ('member the WB?) for my tv entertainment.<div><br></div><div><br></div><div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div></div>jkatzJan 05, 2019View
41819Old TV Shows & Movies Being Remade.<div>For TV shows, there's so many original series being released on Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. that a few remakes don't bother me none. In fact, I consider it to be a moot point.</div><div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">Movies are a different situation. I don't think it's so much about wanting to "cash in" on nostalgia as it is relying on familiar brand names; those are probably considered to be safe investments by producers and studios. Movies have gotten so ridiculously expensive to make that nobody wants to give money to something that might be a flop, so instead of giving an original and new film a chance, the studios fund projects that are the most likely to attract an audience.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">Not that this strategy always pays off. Remember the Conan reboot? Neither does anybody else.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">That's my take on it anyways.</span></div>jkatzJan 05, 2019View
41817Old TV Shows & Movies Being Remade.<div>But here's the thing.</div><div><br></div><div>Let's take Hawaii-5-O the original.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Not only do I wonder why anyone who watched the original when it was bran new wanna watch this new version but why would you wanna see someone else actor portray Steve McGarrett other than Jack Lord?</div><div><br></div><div>Plus so many today are not only far more grim but has a lot of romance and sex which you wouldn't of seen as much when shows like H-5-O were produced.</div><div><br></div><div>1 reason why the H-5-O remake and others are doing well because the audience the networks are targeting either weren't alive or old enough when the original series aired so it's probably easy to remake these classic shows and&nbsp; the audience for them may have the same negativity for these originals or anything produced decades ago.</div>MIKEPRJan 04, 2019View
41816Did you have Cable/Satellite as a child?I had basic cable for a big part of my life, but my family upgraded to digital cable at around 2002. My biggest memory with digital cable is watching G4 around 2002 back when the network was focused primarily around video games.blueluigiJan 04, 2019View

41813Old TV Shows & Movies Being Remade. It's funny, my husband was flipping through the channels the other night and that TMZ live or whatever show was on. They were discussing certain shows coming back to tv, remakes and reboots and re-imaginings. The guest caller was saying "yes, it seems ridiculous but trust me Harvey, my generation of 80's and especially 90's kids are hardcore nostalgia freaks and are being marketed towards." he shushed her about that and said yes whatever, every generation is nostalgic, I don't believe for a minute that's what's happening.<div><br></div><div>I think he's wrong. Yes, all generations get nostalgic, but because the 80's and 90's are where the 50s, 60s and 70s were when we were kids (as in OUR shows have been on nick at night now for awhile, instead of I love Lucy, I dream Of Jeannie, etc)and we;re now the adults and many have their own kids. We are in that spot now. We're old enough to call our stuff retro. I think that's why it seems like 90's kids especially are so hardcore. Sometimes that means they won't even bother watching a remake BECAUSE they are such a fan of the original, but often times were that desperate to see this stuff again that we will watch it. I've never seen such a group of&nbsp; braggy people that thought THEIR tv shows, cartoons and snack foods were better than anyone else's like a 90's kid LOL. All the damn surveys on Facebook, the buzzfeed articles, most of the forum posts on Retrojunk,. All about 90's kid nostalgia. I think he underestimates how hungry 90's kids are for their nostalgia and are absolutely marketed towards. Again though, I don't think us 80's and 90's kids are MORE nostalgic Think it's just we're at that point where a lot of us will be approaching middle age before we know it, so we're grasping. I mean i'm 38. I can't believe i'm almost 40.&nbsp;</div>Dalek227Jan 04, 2019View
