Yes, they were also a company. As one, they had a very rich and mostly unknown history about them) test marketed an arcade game called Pong. Within the next weeks, the market test was successful and the game went mainstream with many clones and variations and even a home version. For six whole years, it earned the title Undisputed King of the Video Arcade Game. Everyone back then thought it wouldn't get much better than that (even when Atari opened the first Chuck E Cheese in 1977 (true story. Google it), even they thought kids would be lining up to play Pong). Fast forward to 1978. This year we see Mork and Mindy make its debut on television, Arena Rock hitting the mainstream with bands like Foreigner and Journey (even though they were around a little longer than their Arena Pop Rock material), and a Japanese video game called Space Invaders invading its way on to the American video game market. With how well it did (to the point where it prompted even a quarter shortage both in Japan and the US), Pong was old news. Today, it exists as a classic (even if generations ahead of us know about it less and less each year. No joke). But back in the early to mid 70's, it was like the pet rock and Disco music. It was almost everywhere

RetroSnob88Nov 28, 2019View
44394Sonic the Hedgehog - Movie
They sort of did something like that months ago: Remember The New Scooby-Doo Movies where they're solving mysteries with big names of the time like The Osmonds, Harlem Globetrotters (okay, they're still known but not as everywhere as they were 50+ years ago), Tim Conway, Batman and/or Robin, etc? They brought that back with a different name. I don't remember what it's called so I call it The New New Scooby-Doo Movies. Anyway, one of the first episodes they did of that one, the Mystery Gang all meet Steve Urkel

Vaporman87 wrote :
That would be a great crossover... 44392Please Help Bring The Mysterious Cities of Gold 2012 to America
Well, somewhat fresh. I did post here months ago but haven't really contributed since. Although with the fact that I'm off Fascistbook (literally what I call Facebook for reasons I won't go into here) for good, that may change. Prior to that, I was a member when this was RetroJunk
RetroSnob88Nov 28, 2019View

44388Frozen movie

I feel the same about the Disney remakes that exist solely for the aforementioned Nostalgia Market (well, that and I feel Disney is doing these so they can keep the copyright on their iterations of what are otherwise public domain stories). I wish those would go away. Oh well, I can be rest assured that the remakes and Nostalgia Market are just nothing more than silly fads

Benjanime wrote :
well i mean like i see it being advertised everywhere, just a month ago they were showing off a frozen poster at the frozen food section of a food lion store i went to and it just had me rolling my eyes. i suppose it is an achievement for them to have a grouncbreaking box office movie from this decade, i guess i'm just finding the princess movies to be old hat.

-end quote

RetroSnob88Nov 28, 2019View
