| 3470 | Mega Man 1 | I prefer games with minimal stories, dialog, and especially cutscenes. I want control of both the action and the story. Ceding one because crappy game devs would rather be making movies gives up what makes video games a great medium. Story in games should be implicit in the content, not the other way around. Mega Man (and most of the classic video games of the 2nd and 3rd generation) is great because it gives you a basic framework to play around in and do things your own way; you are the director of the final experience. I have been susceptible to the draw of finding out what happens next, but I will always enjoy the older games more than the current style. There is a reason Mario 3 is consistently rated in the top five games ever, and Mario Galaxy, Sunshine, et al rarely are. | shakin steak | Sep 11, 2013 |  |
