25301The GoldbergsI don't suppose they released any DVD sets.

Loved the reenactment of the candy bar scene in the latest episode. I'm sure a lot of people have copied that in the 80s.
Mr MagicOct 16, 2015View
25300To allow, or not to allow? That is the question.
NLogan wrote :
I don't know what you guys are talking about, my article The Coming of the Autumn People is pure truth. Veritas Veritas every single word.
-end quote
That didn't immediately jump out at me as a "story", but more of a mood setting piece. Still, it straddles that line I suppose. I think including these types of writing could be good for us. I think it could really be as simple as adding one more category to the articles, or a simple, standardized disclaimer that I add to the top of each fictional piece. Also, a way to sort fictional pieces in the Article Index.
Vaporman87Oct 16, 2015View

I worried about Ready Player One wannabe stories, but everything can't be to my taste.
shakin steakOct 16, 2015View
25298To allow, or not to allow? That is the question.I too am running very low on Halloween material. I agree that maybe fiction should be a separate part of the site. Especially if you can really tell it is and somebody is trying to pass it off as a real story.
pikachuloverOct 16, 2015View

25295To allow, or not to allow? That is the question.
vkimo wrote :
I'm definitely on board for fiction, but making sure it doesn't veer off the sites purpose might be tricky. I could totally see this place becoming a hub for My Little Ponies fan fiction. I really don't plan on doing many fictional pieces myself but could see great potential. Maybe a different section devoted to fiction?
-end quote
Indeed. And yeah, I know what you mean by keeping things focused on the purpose, and not letting it turn into a fan fiction site. Unless it's just plain old "retro" fan fiction. Not a place where twenty short stories about Care Bears appear every day.

I wonder if adhering to the simple restriction that "fictional work cannot take place in the universe of an existing intellectual property or rely heavily on characters from existing intellectual properties" would suffice?

A writer could potentially create a story in which one or several characters from existing intellectual properties can be used, but they cannot be the "main" protagonists or antagonists and the story cannot take place in the universe of those characters.
Vaporman87Oct 16, 2015View
