No other animated series introduced new characters in such an entertaining way.</p> <p>What I mean is, everyone who watched the first Pokemon episode didn't know anything about Pokemon, but the episode introduces several Pokemon as a "fantasy flashback/flashforward" from Ash. He was fantasizing which Pokemon he wanted as his first acquisition, and by default, we all learned about the different Pokemon in a natural, easygoing way.</p> <p>From my generation, it was great to see a character like Professor Oak, many qualities similar to the Professor from Gilligan's Island. I really hadn't realized it until 1968 that until the Peanuts gang was animated, child animated characters were voiced by adult actors. Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang were the first to use actual childern to voice child animated characters. </p> <p>Next time you watch, "A Charlie Brown Christmas", pay close attention to Charlie Brown's sister, Sally. The voice quality by Cathy Steinberg is amazing, just like Peter Robbins.
