31741Back online, at a terrible cost.Thank you Blue and NLogan, I'm going to need to back up my articles. My drafts might be lost, but at least my published work can be saved. ThatDudeintheHoodieNov 27, 2016View
31739Back online, at a terrible cost.Another source we can use is the Wayback Machine at archive.org.

https://web.archive.org/web/20161012004934/http://www.retro-daze.org/

Actually, this might be pretty helpful. The site from October seems to be in place, but some of the links even goes to as recent as November 20th. Most of the links I clicked on, from the articles to the forum seems to be fully functional. A side effect to this, however, is that some of the images seem to be gone.
blueluigiNov 27, 2016View
31738Back online, at a terrible cost.I have the article titles saved just in case Rakesh doesn't have the files or isn't able to use them the way we hope. I would suggest for members to grab the article texts that are available in the cached google documents just in case and save them as word files or email them to themselves. If worst comes to worst we have them. Also I don't know how long google maintains their cache.
NLoganNov 27, 2016View
31737Back online, at a terrible cost.
NLogan wrote :
Did we find another dedicated server? Are we already moved over if so? Will we lose anything in the transition if not?
-end quote
I know who I am switching us to. A company that Hoju actually suggested. After contacting them, I felt really good about their backup features and system. Especially that they keep a second server offsite with your site on it. Something happens to one server, they switch to the other and fix the one that's down.

If Rakesh has a full set of site files, and we are able to upload them, then anything we have done here since we came back online would vanish, and we would be fast forwarding to the middle of September. So bare that in mind.

I'm waiting to hear from Rakesh before we make the move to a new host.
Vaporman87Nov 27, 2016View

31735Back online, at a terrible cost. That's a great idea NLogan. And thank you for compiling all that information.

I would advise holding off on that until we see what I can find out from Rakesh with regard to the test server files. If he has everything we need from mid-September, that would be a lot less catching up to do.

I hope to hear from him soon. Crossing my fingers this will work.
Vaporman87Nov 27, 2016View
