49327Is "Dominion" the last film in the Jurassic World series?
i would have loved to see the PC game, jurassic park: trespasser in its original vision. sucks that it had to immediately be rushed out to meet the demands of an earlier release than expected. i doubt we'll get a similar jurassic park game that would be put in the right care.

BenjanimeJun 13, 2022View
49326Summer 2022
Tony, sorry to hear about the turmoil. Ah, but that dollar bill! Man, that is just so freakin' cool.

Yeah, around here the last couple weeks have been pretty cool (as low as the 50s at night) and lots and rain to boot. Today is a bit hotter, but still not bad.

For Father's day this weekend I'm planning on firing up the ol' smoker for the first time this season. I'm going to smoke a pork butt for pulled pork, and maybe toss on some chicken legs just to make the most of the smoke (using pecan and apple woods this time). Picked up some beer for "smoking day" too. Doing that on Saturday since it's gonna be like a 10 hour smoke. Prep it all for Sunday. I'll post pictures over on the Discord probably.
oniparJun 13, 2022View
49325Is "Dominion" the last film in the Jurassic World series?
There's a built-in appeal when you know what's going to happen before you see the movie, and the special effects teams get to go all-out with crazy moves. "Jurassic" Everything looks like the only good bet for films beyond "Dominion", the overwhelming box office numbers tell that tale.

eddstarrJun 13, 2022View
49324Summer 2022
Hey, you can't move past the rough stuff at the start of official summer. Summer is chaos, making everyone grateful to survive until September signals the start of another school year.

eddstarrJun 13, 2022View
49323My Long Search is Over!
There used to be an old saying, "Fairy Tales are the gateway to Science Fiction".

Without realizing it, that old Russian cartoon introduced me to what must be the oldest folk tale I've ever encountered. When I search beyond the Ming Dynasty, "The Liu Brothers" becomes "The Ten Brothers".

But the actual number of brothers vary with time and region across the history of China. In the case of, "The Ten Brothers", they form a family based Justice League, but this was centuries before actual comic books.

eddstarrJun 13, 2022View
49322Bob's Burgers movie
@Ben:

"just wait, in another year or two we'll probably get that cashgrab of a family guy movie just to see a movie cutaway gag on how the characters all had to sign a contract to hulu to get a movie deal."

They still talking about doing a live-action film?
Mr MagicJun 13, 2022View

49320My Long Search is Over!
Nice little short Edd. The 50's and 60's really were the golden age of animation. The technique and style hadn't yet taken the nose dive it did in the 70's and 80's.
Rick Ace RhodesJun 13, 2022View
49319Is "Dominion" the last film in the Jurassic World series?
Anyone else see it this weekend? I thought it was... okay. I don't know if it was necessarily worse than the previous film, but it really had no other point to it then to mine nostalgia for the original film. It ended with literally the same message as the previous film did with nothing more being accomplished: dinosaurs are apart of the modern world now and we are going to have to learn to deal with it.

There was no real tension as you didn't feel like any of the main characters were going to die. The conflict with the t-rex and the rival apex dinosaur was pulled out of nowhere and only existed to give a "final battle" at the end of the film. The only real new thing this film did that none of the other ones have done before is show how the dinosaurs are having an effect on the world around them. But even then it wasn't as done as well as it could have been.

I didn't get my hopes up going into it given how bad the last two were, but even then I still a feel a little let down.
Rick Ace RhodesJun 13, 2022View
49318My Long Search is Over!
thankfully with them not being well known it also means they won't be seen in the eyes of filmmakers that see only profit and removing the charm of the original. i never knew about "the magic roundabout" until after the doogal movie came out, but i watched in comparison with the movie and the original show, apparently the U.K. version was better while the U.S. version attempted to make constant movie references and removing certain scenes, and adding different things in, so i only imagined with why it flopped so hard with critics.

BenjanimeJun 12, 2022View
