No way! That is awesome. I love it when they involve other retro geeks in the show, and to have a Keaton Batman episode is even better. I imagine there will be some reference to Keaton as Batman being a bad idea, only to have that change after seeing the movie.
Vaporman87Jan 06, 2017View
32851Voltron Legendary Defender Season 2 TrailerI caught the first few episodes of season one and thought that they were really well done, with a good mix of adventure and humor. Glad to see it performed well enough to warrant a second season. Hopefully I can get caught up the first season sometime soon.
Vaporman87Jan 06, 2017View
32850Malls Across AmericaThat is unfortunate. If this guy ever gets around to making official prints I'll definitely buy a few to support him.jkatzJan 06, 2017View

I saw some unfortunate background on this project today:

Michael Galinsky wrote:

So it goes again... No this site did not contact me before they posted 50 of my images.... so no they didn't pay me for it either. Neither has anyone else (except for the one company I sued and settled with - and no I can't say anything about it). The company that put out the book, Steidl, never paid me a cent and charged me 20 dollars a book for the 300 I needed for kickstarter backers... so I lost money on that too (I had budgeted 7 dollars a book and hadn't considred the 100 copies that would be shipped overseas). But I really did not shoot them for money. I shot them because I have always wanted/needed to make work. I was happy with these when I made them but was literally laughed at when I tried to bring them to a few galleries back in 1989/90. So they went in a drawer. When the came out 20 + years later they had aged nicely.

One would think that the images would have value as prints but I have not had any luck getting a gallery to give me the time of day. If you want to have a show in your gallery let me know- or tell your friend that runs one... This is just one of the half dozen times they've gone viral. and this will proably get shared 100k times which means a few million people will see them. So there's that. that is gratifying even if it is not renumerative. I think we'll make our own book some day. and so it will go again- hopefully

shakin steakJan 06, 2017View

Ignoring the stupidity of making a John Oliver pop in the first place, you could just as easily market him as Rick Moranis. Or take his glasses off, put him on a different body, and now he's Hal from Malcom in the Middle! As for M.A.S.K., you'd have to be crazy to even consider selling a figure without a helmet, but Funko probably would. There's nothing to distinguish them from "Generic Blonde White Guy #3427" or "Generic Old General".

Sorry for the rant..I think I have a love/hate relationship with these things.
jkatzJan 06, 2017View

Definitely a lot of parallels.

These are the only two pops I own. The Gigantor is from a "collector" line that's ridiculously overpriced. I only bought him because he was on clearance. If (when) the public loses interest in these guys, I'll bank on it being because of the lack of interesting and creative designs. 90% of the pops are basically the same.
