33367What Bands/Performers Have You Seen Live in Concert?I've mentioned it a few times on here before, i'm going to see Ariana Grande on february 17th. It's my first concert and she's the one person that i really want to see. I mean there are a few others that would be cool to see (Iron Maiden, The Cranberries) but if i never see any of them i won't feel bad or disappointed or whatever but with her i would have. I really really wanted to ever since i became a fan in 2015 and for almost a year i thought how cool and awesome it would be to see her live but i never thought it would actually happen. So this is a BIG deal to me. Sometimes i still can't believe that it's true and really real life, it feels like one of those dreams that feel so real but then you wake up and you're like "oh, it was just a dream". But this time it's not a dream and it is real. It might not seem like much to most people but to me it's like christmas, halloween, my birthday, new years, last day of school, first day of summer and winning the lottery all mixed together haha. I'm just so excited and so happy about it.Jrs1991Jan 24, 2017View

33364Why do we feel Nostalgia? As for me, I get nostalgic for all the things I enjoyed as a kid. The things that triggers the memories of me being a carefree kid just living life. Such as classic Nintendo, music of the 80s, taking trips to the beach because it reminds me of the days when my parents used to take us to trips in Pensacola, etc. Just basically a whole lot of things which tend to trigger dormant memories and start pondering the good ol' days.
Linux_SageJan 24, 2017View

33362What Bands/Performers Have You Seen Live in Concert?I rarely ever go to concerts but in May of 2015 me and my wife saw Rush. It was awesome! Was their final tour as far as I know so had to see it! My wife isn't a fan but I dragged her there anyway. I took a few photos of the event but don't have them with me right now.
Linux_SageJan 24, 2017View

33360Why do we feel Nostalgia?
DirtyD79 wrote :
To me it's a way of coping with stress by remembering simpler happier times. Like when My Great Aunt Rose died a few months ago the service and the wake were in a church and a VFW in one of the neighborhoods I lived in as a kid. It helped me remember happier times and doing things like riding my bike down to this one park or playing with some of the other kids in the neighborhood. I saw one of the houses I lived in and it reminded me of me and my brother playing with our GI Joes at the bottom of the staircase or the time this one kid down the street turned his basement into a haunted house and we all ended up pretending to be Jason, Freddy Krueger, monsters and zombies. Seeing and talking to my relatives at the wake helped me remember the things I did with them. It was almost like it brought back the ones who have died if only in my memories. It helped to take a lot of the pain away.

To me nostalgia isn't just about stuff, it's also about the people in your life, the places you've been, and the things you've done. That's the kind of articles I like reading on nostalgia sites. Articles about how whatever it is the writer is talking about affected them. What memories it brings them.
-end quote
Very well said DD. Like you, I really enjoy those articles that explore the personal feelings and memories associated with whatever the subject may be. Sounds like you were able to get through a rough patch with a little help from good memories. I'm glad to hear that. Vaporman87Jan 24, 2017View
