37311The Ghosts of Labor Days PastI hear a little, "Word Up", in the cord shifts of "(You've Got Me Confused With) Someone Who Cares", especially when the background singers chime in.<div style="font-style: normal; font-weight: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-style: normal; font-weight: normal;">Labor Day has always been an "odd" holiday for me because I associate it with the last fun before going back to school. And back to school was high with anticipation and anxiety. Kinda "fear of failure" mixed with "back with my old friends again".</div><div style="font-style: normal; font-weight: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-style: normal; font-weight: normal;">As a result, music on the radio during Labor Day would stick in my brain in a way it never did the rest of the year.</div><div style="font-style: normal; font-weight: normal;"><br></div><div style="font-style: normal; font-weight: normal;"><br></div><div style="">Let me pick on <b style="font-style: normal;">1970</b> again, my goto year when I want to make a point,<i> lol.</i></div><div style="font-style: normal; font-weight: normal;">The neighborhood always came together on Labor Day so the parents could share the joy of having the kids go back to school again. Us kids sorta formed a support group to ease the fears over another looming school year.&nbsp;</div><div style="font-style: normal; font-weight: normal;"><br></div><div style="">Somehow the song, "<i style=""><b>Love . . . or Let Me Be Lonely</b></i>", seemed to sum up perfectly what I was feeling back in the day. I'm sure you'll know what I mean when you listen to it.&nbsp;</div><div style=""><br></div><div style="">Btw, this has to be one of the strangest song titles ever!</div><div style=""><br></div> <div style="position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:75.0%"><iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/OBYNxfyJgH0?ecver=2" width="480" height="360" frameborder="0" style="position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div>eddstarrSep 02, 2017View
37310Why Is Modern Pop Music So Terrible?Growing up in the 1960's was a musical avalanche of every variety, this must have had great influence on popular music for listeners and performers.<div><br></div><div>But the rise of the internet makes music spanning centuries available to everyone. Shouldn't this be a boon to musical creativity and quality?</div>eddstarrSep 02, 2017View

37307Why Is Modern Pop Music So Terrible?I have no say in this really, because I don't listen to modern music... with very few exceptions. Having said that, all y'all's whipper-snapper music sucks.<br>Vaporman87Sep 02, 2017View
37306Fifth Annual Article ContestLee and Linz from Pop Rewind have made their tough choice:<br><br><div id="yui_3_16_0_1_1504373994516_2479"><i>Hi Tony,<br><br>Thanks again for asking us to be judges for the RetroDaze Annual Article Contest. The theme this year was really creative and so were all the entries-- they were a pleasure to read!<br><br><b>Russell - The Black-Eyed Simpson</b> is our #1 pick. The use of humor, very relatable situations, and living through the character really made this entry stand out for us.<br><br>As runner-up, we had to go with <b>Oh Pooter!</b> We can never again eat Dunkaroos or play Tekken 2 and not think of Pooter.<br><br>Congratulations to the winners and to everyone who entered. However, I have to deduct points because this film got me craving White Castle, and given that there is no White Castle anywhere near me, I have to now sit here angry about not being able to get it.</div><div><br></div><div>4/5</div>Rick Ace RhodesSep 02, 2017View
