History is like dust on a table, it can easily be wiped away. | 49471 | Hey, Things could be Worse! | <p>One of the benefits I took full advantage of in 1979 was ignoring all the vocal reactions to Jimmy Carter's predictions of the future facing us in the 1980's. I was a young man with no time to dwell in doom and gloom.</p> <p>But as usual, "Americathon" tells a story about the future with elements that mesh nicely with the 21st century. Meaning it's an interesting premise that got the timing wrong.</p> <p>In my opinion, "Americathon" was tripped up by a low budget, television-quality, production that did not meet the standards for theater quality presentation. The plot has a natural focal point - the Telethon. All the paralles between today's world and the one in the movie are mentioned in this Cracked article. | 49467 | The Andy Griffith Show | <p>Most people would pick the black-and-white episodes over the colorized episodes, but there's really genuine classics.</p> <p>There's this one great episode called "Dinner at Eight" that'll really keep you hungry.<br /> <br /> Andy has a spaghetti dinner with his friend Goober and after that dinner he ends up having another dinner with Howard and his mother. The funny thing was, Andy wasn't even supposed to come over there for dinner! Of course, Howard and his mother weren't just going to tell him to go home. So Andy ends up having another spaghetti meal! And this is thanks to Goober! He screws things up for Andy by telling him he's invited to Howard's home for dinner. Well, later on when Andy comes home, he gets a call from Helen his girlfriend. She informs Andy that he was supposed to have a dinner with her and his uncle that evening. Sure enough, he goes over there.
