2603ArticleVaporman87Wow. You certainly have an affinity for Alice Cooper. LOL. I never listened to Heavy Metal growing up. Some of my friends did, and many at school proclaimed their love for it via t-shirts and other memorablia... or just dressing like they were one themselves. But I did come to appreciate Alice after I saw his cameo in Wayne's World. Only after that did I start doing a little research on the man, and giving some consideration to his music. I still wouldn't call myself a fan, but I do like the song he provided for Friday The 13th, Man Behind The Mask. I liked watching the music video as well. Sep 04, 2015View

2619ArticleVaporman87One thing I take from this article is that my assessment of Ozzy, gathered during my stint watching his reality show, was correct. He partied wayyyyy too hard and it showed in some of this crazy stunts. LOL. But you can't discount the man's talent. He definitely knew how to sell records.A Few Facts About Ozzy Osbourne You May Not KnowSep 09, 2015View
2620ArticleVaporman87Seriously... why don't you tell us how you REALLY feel about Enuff Z Nuff. LOL. I've never even heard of that band. Perhaps that's a good thing. I know exactly what you mean regarding both Guns N Roses and Nirvana. One of my closest friends and his brother were devoted Guns N Roses fans, and when I wasn't being forced to listen to their music on the radio in my own car, I was being forced to listen to them on tape in theirs, or at their house, or just singing their songs... very poorly. Ugh!!! Nirvana's popularity always threw me for a loop. They really didn't seem very good at... well anything. But apparently I was alone in that feeling. 2621ArticleVaporman87I think this may be my favorite article of yours so far. You're so right. It's not about the shows or commercials themselves. Like you said, they can be watched at any point on YouTube (and in some cases, HERE!) But to find all those other little details... local ads, local station promos, etc. And then to watch them all just as they aired together, like for a moment your TV has stepped back in time and is showing you what was on at any given moment, somewhere in the US. Then you start to wonder what the person recording the tape was thinking or doing while watching these shows and such play out. What was the purpose? What shows were they hoping to capture the most? Where is that person now? There just so much wrapped up in the simple act of watching the old recordings of someone else. I have a feeling Caps has extensive experience with this, as all of his video submissions seem to come from these types of recordings, local ads and all. VHS Television Treasure HuntSep 09, 2015View
2622ArticleVaporman87I think, for myself, I ended up preferring the shows in which the family was a whole. I'm guessing that is because my own family went through a divorce in my early teens, and I just wanted to feel stability. I would catch the Cosby's, Brady's, and others for sure. But I really enjoyed Family Ties the most. They always stuck with each other, even though they were all so different. And you never felt like there was a lack of love for anyone.Growing Up BradySep 09, 2015View
2624ArticleVaporman87Yeah, that sucks. I have many VHS recordings from days past, most of them home movies but some recordings of things like Saturday Night Live, NBA games, and the like.VHS Television Treasure HuntSep 09, 2015View
2630ArticleVaporman87Actually I think it may be best to first convert the VHS tapes to DVDs, then rip them to your computer that way. I'm not sure how Caps does it, but my guess is that he first converts them, then edits them in Pinnacle (which I also use, for all video edits like the Specials).VHS Television Treasure HuntSep 10, 2015View

2641ArticleVaporman87Yeah, that was the difficulty of being a fan of shows not yet in syndication. I do think that some channels would show multiple episodes of the show from past seasons. Like maybe the earlier seasons were entered into syndication, while the first run shows airing. Still, the Brady's were great. Like you said, the saccharine nature of the show made you feel good inside, even when they were having issues. Kind of like the shows from the 50's and early 60's, everyone happy with their roles in life, never anything too stressful going on. People are always friendly, if not a bit nosy. Mayberryesque, if you will. Growing Up BradySep 13, 2015View
