| 1731 | Article | Vaporman87 | Wow! With the popularity of "Elf on the Shelf" these days, I would think Phroomf would be ready for a comeback. The ad campaign could tout it's roots in the heyday of Christmas lore creation, and it's pre-dating of Elf on the Shelf by decades. Personally, my wife and I began a tradition a few years ago where 3 stuffed elves (one per kid) starts doing ornery things at night. Last night, the elves brought in a case of Funko TMNT figures and Funko Disney figures and tried to open a few of them before the kids found them doing so. I especially love that Superman has a mullet, and that the marketing departments of about every corporation on earth would have even changed the skin color of the kids in the ads to hot pink or neon green if they thought it would sell more product. As for magazines I owned/read, I had a subscription to Master of the Universe Magazine for about a year. I WISH I still had those magazines now, dangit! Although the posters would be long gone, as I routinely ripped them out and hung them on my walls until no more could fit. The <a href="http://www.earlnorem.com/motugallerypage.html">Earl Norem images</a> were just amazing. I also owned some movie based mags that were just one shots, like the Batman (1989) movie magazine, Godzilla (1998), and others. Then I also bought MAD Magazine and Cracked now and then. Cracked (the online magazine) has become a vulgar shell of what the printed magazine was. It's sad to see. I had some Boy's Life and Highlights magazines also. The Highlights magazine was something that was given to us by our elementary school teachers, but I would peruse them and if I found something that looked interesting, I would read it. | Kids Magazines of the 90s | Dec 29, 2014 | |

| 1753 | Article | Vaporman87 | Sweet! I can't say I watched American Gladiators religiously, but whenever I saw it on as I flipped through channels, I stopped to see the action. My favorite events were usually the jousting and assault segments, but I also like the even where the contestant had to swing across on ropes, trying to avoid the Gladiator. There were times that I wondered if the Gladiator was not quite giving it his/her all. Like, maybe they had to hold back a bit at a director/producer's request in order to make the show exciting. I don't know though. I haven't heard anything like that from any former Gladiators or folks on the show. Still, who knows. My favorite Gladiators were Blaze and Siren (because I thought they were attractive). Among the male Gladiators, I really didn't have a favorite. My favorite event was Assault. How I wished I could be a part of that one! Watching this show was never the same for me after watching the MST3K episode "The Final Sacrifice". In that episode (if you haven't watched it, you absolutely MUST!) Mike and the Bots constantly refer to Larry Csonka because the main character's dad looks exactly like him in a photo. Just a funny little tidbit there for you to chew on.
