There are so many great characters from the early days of comics that haven't seen the light of day in decades. My wife once purchased me a book that listed some of the worst comic villains ever created, and many of them were from comics I'd never heard of from the 50's.		Apr 23, 2017
5589	Article	Vaporman87	Ahh. I feel safer within my winterproof fort already. I have known of the curious case of hot Dr Pepper for quite some time. As my favorite soda, it definitely boggles the mind to think of it being gulped down like a coffee. My grandmother left us a few boxes of recipes pulled from magazines of her time containing recipes like you mention that really make you scratch your head. Who thought of these things?! Who would have eaten them? Blech! Though, once in a while, I'd come across one that sounded sort of edible. As for reading, I've been in and out of the world of Olympic Vista (via the Olympic Vista Chronicles), with the first of a series, "Yesterday's Gone" by Kelly Pawlik. 1633	Article	Vaporman87	Ahh, man. I share your joy of reminiscing about the use of the record function of cassette recorders/players of our day. Only, where you were delighting in capturing your favorite songs of the day, I was using mine to preserve, for all time, my ability to pretend to be a DJ/Radio Talk Show Host/Sportscaster... along with some buddies of mine. I have probably 40 cassettes containing various mixes of those pretending sessions. Some were actually funny, most were only funny to me and the people I recorded them with. Though, something tells me they will be found humorous again someday when my kids find them and start listening to dad acting a fool in his youth. E.T. was huge for sure. My mom even had somebody she knew make an E.T. cake for me. But this was not a sheet cake with E.T. painted on with icing. It was a cake IN THE SHAPE of E.T.! Probably about 2 feet high. 3242	Article	Vaporman87	Ahh, man. How I miss the Wendy's Super Bar. There used to be one in the Wendy's about 20 minutes from me. It was a glorious thing, for a reasonable price. And yes, it was always fun to watch those "regular guys" doing battle. I always found it funny to watch. Even so, some of them were technically talented. Others were just there to get beat up.
