495VideoVaporman87This is a prime example of taking a product too far. As novelty trading cards, the Garbage Pail Kids were humorous and effective. As movie stars, they were completely awkward and unappealing. But as a Saturday Morning Cartoon... well... it's obvious why this didn't air. Mar 20, 2013View

3598ArticlemickyarberThis is a really good nostalgia piece, and there was a lot to digest. Since there was a lot to digest, there is a lot to comment on, so bear with me while I hit some of the highlights: - Hot Wheels always made great Christmas gifts, and you seemed to hit the jackpot with the specific ones you got! I had each and everyone of the cars featured in the 5 pack and 6 pack you show here, so I'm betting I got both of those packs at some point in life. I think I got more use out of the "Larry's Towing" white tow truck than any of the the other cars. - My older brother was the one fortunate enough to have that sweet How Wheels Sto and Go Service Center play set. He was always a scrooge with it, and I never got to touch it really until he out grew toys and it sort of became a hand me down. - All of your personal pictures in this article are great btw, but at the moment I was looking at the one of you setting up to play Catapults and Crossbows. It's cool you actually got to play the game. I had saved up allowance money at some point and bought it, but never once found anyone to play it with. I had to settle for setting it all up and playing the role of both players :( - That picture of the fried bologna sandwich looks incredible. Growing up in the south I can tell you there is no more traditional lunch time food than a bologna sandwich. If it's fried, then it becomes a delicacy. - I always preferred the Franco-American brand of canned pastas over Chef Boyardee. SpaghettiOs are the cadillac of canned pasta. - I like the little tale of your Grandma saying that the monsters helped out around the place and a bite of cookie was a small price to pay for their help. My grandma would make up little tidbits like this all the time that would keep us grandkids discussing the possibility of it being real for days. - The silver tree in that one picture is the spitting image of the one my grandmother used all the way up until she passed away in 2006! I love those old trees. To some, they may seem tacky, but to me and the memories I have of it at my grandmas tree, I say they are priceless. - All my life, I can't recall a Christmas season when there wasn't a blue tin of those danish style butter cookies sitting on the counter. Even as I type this, there is a tin of them sitting on my own counter. This was a really fun look back at some early 80's toys and such. Thanks a lot for bringing so much detail to it. I've really enjoyed it. It's been a great way to spend some time. Merry Christmas my friend.NLogan's Christmas at Grandma's HouseDec 18, 2016View
2091ArticleVaporman87This is a really great list, and a hard one to formulate. There were so many great father figures in 80's sitcoms. I would say, I agree with this list with one exception... I believe I would replace Charles with Mr. Drummond, who not only had to teach and raise 3 children on his own, but two of them were black. That equated to a whole lot of opportunities for trouble and he always handled that pressure graciously. Not to mention one of those two black boys was Arnold, who was ALWAYS looking to get into some kind of mess. One who gets very little attention, but I always thought was a really great dad was Michael Hogan (The Hogan Family), who managed to keep a lid on the 3 boys he had and deal with the death of his wife (actually the lead character of the show in the beginning until she was fired after the second season because Valerie Harper was holding out for more money).Top 5 TV Dads of the 80'sMar 18, 2015View
3064ArticleVaporman87This is a really great list. All of these characters would fit perfectly in a Halloween-themed comic extravaganza together. I especially like that Ghost Rider is number one, considering he is my SECOND favorite comic book character behind Iron Man (and before I catch any slack for that, I've been an Iron Man fan since the mid-80's, so I liked him LONG before it was cool to). I know when I think Halloween, the Green Goblin and Hobgoblin also fit right in there. I mean... they use "pumpkin bombs"! 1800ArticleVaporman87This is a very interesting subject. I don't know that I have ANY reoccurring dreams, or that I EVER had any. I do know that I have had dreams that take place in the same locations and involve similar situations. There are a few dreams from my youth that have been cemented in my memory forever: One very simple yet traumatic dream had my mom and several other women seated in a circle around a small pool or tub that was located out in the yard of some mystery house in some mystery neighborhood. There was water in the pool and their feet were dangling down in the water. A shark was in the water, and I spent my entire time in the dream trying to prevent the shark from eating the feet of the women, especially my mom. In another dream that took place at the home I grew up in, I had learned to jump extremely high. I enjoyed being able to jump 50 feet in the air, but controlling the direction of my jumps and how I landed was another matter. I ended up landing on top of a metal awning that covered a small patio... the whole thing came tumbling down and I was partially buried under the metal pieces. In recent times, many, many, many dreams take place with me back in high school. And almost always, it happens to be close to graduation and I have missed classes and homework and will likely not graduate. Anything else that happens in these dreams revolve around me trying to figure out what to do, and how to break the news to my parents. I can't tell you how many times I have had this situation unfold in a dream. Countless times. In fact, I had another of these dream situations happen very recently.
