| Article | Vaporman87 | Radio Shack has brought the "vintage" to us in the present with their 2014 Super Bowl Ad. All I can say is... AWESOME!!! See it here: http://www.retro-daze.org/site/thread/635?page=3 | Feb 03, 2014
| Article | Vaporman87 | These cards are very reminiscent of those that my classmates and I exchanged every year in Elementary School. It was our parents to duty to make sure every child on the list that we were each given had a card from us. It was a fun time to stand up in class and start handing out cards until everyone was finished, and then start opening them. Occasionally you would get a nice little message from a friend. I typically stuck with the superhero or Saturday Morning Cartoon themes. Those were my favorites. I don't think I ever received one with a built in scent though. I missed out on that!!! Thanks again Miss M! | For the Love of V-Day! Part 1 | Feb 04, 2014
| Article | Vaporman87 | Sweet! I love all these old ads. It's strange how obvious it is to us, when we see some of these, what time period these are from. EVERYTHING... from the colors and content, to the clipart and design, are almost painfully 80s. And I love it. It surprises me that marketing companies have not caught up with manufacturers, the film industry, and the gaming industry, in bringing back what worked in the 80s and 90s. One would think that having the attention of our demographic through our desire to feel nostalgia would be a great thing for marketing. Maybe that's why I'm not a marketer though. :D I always liked the gaming ads of the 80s and early 90s. They tended to try and add some form of realism to the game via the casting and photographing of somebody wearing similar clothes to the main character of the game doing some exaggerated pose. 978 | Article | Vaporman87 | You can definitely tell some of these V-day card images are taken straight out of Jim Lee's work with the X-Men. Great stuff! These would have fit right in with my choices for Valentine's Day card exchanges in school. Anything to do with super heroes and such (as I mentioned in the first part of this series). One thing I would have really enjoyed was if there were some Godzilla related Valentine's Day cards. In fact... I'm going to go look that up right now. :) Thanks again Miss M!!! | For the Love of V-Day! Part 2 | Feb 07, 2014
| Article | vkimo | And who can forget Fabio gracing the cover of Iron Sword. | Rad Retro Ads | Feb 07, 2014
| Article | Vaporman87 | Exactly! That was the epitome of those types of ads! :D I forgot about that one. | Rad Retro Ads | Feb 07, 2014
| Article | pikachulover | I remember Kissing Koolers. They weren't that great for a lip product. I remember I saw some for sale in a catalogue and begged my mom to buy me one. | Rad Retro Ads | Feb 07, 2014
| Article | pikachulover | My friend used to have a huge crush on Gambit. I don't think I would have given X-Men cards in 1993. I usually went for something boys and girls would like. I think in 93 I either gave Tiny Toons or Marsupilami. | For the Love of V-Day! Part 2 | Feb 07, 2014
| Article | vkimo | I forgot to mention it, but the MOTU ad at the top was pretty shameless in exploiting a mother's love for her child. "While he's still a child"?! | Rad Retro Ads | Feb 08, 2014
| Article | Vaporman87 | I noticed in that ad, that Zodac is hanging out in Snake Mountain with the baddies. They apparently were dividing them up based on the titles given them by Mattel, and not by the roles they played on the cartoon. | Rad Retro Ads | Feb 08, 2014 |
