1151ArticlevkimoI really dig the custom art! Being stuffed in a Rabbit for any length of time is admirable. I remember one time we planned this vacation to Sacramento, about 3 hours away. It was a sweltering day. My parents had 3 cars at the time, all junkers. First we took the 88 Cutlass and were driving about 2 hours before it started to overheat. I remember my dad throwing his cigarette out the window and turning back. Then we got into the Buick and made it a little farther but it too started to overheat. We finally gave up and went home. On the way back the cigarette my dad threw out caused a small fire on the side of the highway and we saw firetrucks scrambling. That was about it. Jun 16, 2014View
1130ArticleVaporman87Man. This is what I love about this site and others like it. That chance to peak into the pasts of others and experience the spirit and passion of those good times. This Suddenly Summer contest has truly brought out some of the most well written, passionate, and stirring reads yet. Benson feels like a place I could call home. With a small population (Rutland has around 400), a General Store (just as you described, the still functioning store that just scrapes by meeting the needs of the locals (and has since the 1870's), and the beauty of the water (I live just minutes from the Ohio River). Benson could be Rutland, and vice versa. Thank you so much for sharing this. Summer at the LakeJun 16, 2014View

1193ArticleVaporman87Darn it! I don't know how many times now I have read about kids in school having cool parties (pajama parties, pizza parties, etc.). We never had parties in school. Maybe occasionally we would not have to actually do work in class, and instead sit and talk and snack, but we never had parties. We did have a Halloween celebration in elementary school though. It too had a Haunted House set up in one of the classrooms, and the gymnasium was littered with games, food, and contests. It was fun!TDitH goes Back to SchoolSep 03, 2014View
1197ArticleThatDudeintheHoodieSad part is that is slowly going to the wayside. You can't even bring in cupcakes without having someone complaining.TDitH goes Back to SchoolSep 03, 2014View
1198ArticleVaporman87Did your school ever have games like bobbing for apples or the "mystery bag" fishing game where you drop your line behind an upright gym mat and somebody ties a bag on then pulls the string to let you know you've "caught" something? TDitH goes Back to SchoolSep 03, 2014View
1199ArticleThatDudeintheHoodieYes they did. Also there was a doughnut eating contest with the doughnut on the string.TDitH goes Back to SchoolSep 04, 2014View

1158ArticleVaporman87Having 3 young kids, I can tell you firsthand that these new water guns can be so overly complicated it reaches frustration levels. Not to mention it seems like the manufacturers are going more for style and aesthetics than functionality and practicality. Why would you manufacture a water gun so massive it requires two hands, only to make the water reservoir a tiny clip that holds less liquid than a Capri Sun package? I don't get it. Still, there are some newer soakers out there that are advanced AND practical AND extremely cool. But I just don't see them ever being as good as those described here.
