| 3130 | Article | Vaporman87 | Surprisingly, we never owned a single one of these items. That's right. I was totally deprived of these. In fact, I don't even know of any friends who owned any of these items. Man, how did I even survive? LOL Nowadays you can even own a miniature "claw game" for your home. The kids get a kick out of that... until they get tired of always "winning" items that they already owned. | 3 Essential 80s Home Decor Items | Nov 23, 2015 | ![]() |

| 3583 | Article | vkimo | Sweet article Mickey, got me right in the feels! Your dad seems like the genuine article. The fact that he did so much for others speaks to the real spirit of Christmas. Sadly the holidays bring a lot of pain and emphasis on the less fortunate, but that's the chance to help out. I enjoyed the formatting and font change, made for a nice comfy read. Those toy sets look so awesome. I wasn't even there for most of the 80s toys and feel they had the most appeal. It was like the marketing dept back then was on a whole other level. Looking forward to the next piece! | 1986: The Year That Santa Became Real | Dec 15, 2016 | ![]() |
| 1610 | Article | NLogan | Sweet article. Hoju the box you are holding is definitely the Voltron Lion Force Battle Riser. The images on the side of the box match perfectly.

I believe your dad is holding a blue lion miniature possibly looking at the belly. I think the four silver bumps correspond to the four rounded parts at the top of the legs and the white head is actually the muzzle seen from straight on. The vehicle force has prominent yellow or red on the blue legs and black tank tracks underneath. I also had Mr. T from the A-Team in two sizes yours and the 3 3/4 inch GI JOE size from Galoob. In addition I also had Mr. T as Clubber Lang along with Rocky and Apollo Creed. | Holi-Daze: Toys Unwrapped | Dec 11, 2014 | ![]() |
| 2307 | Article | Vaporman87 | Sweet! Great article to come back with Hoju (hope all is well with the new little one). I actually DO remember some of these characters, and even still own first issues of their comics (Bloodshot, CyberForce, DarkHawk, XO Man-O-War). I had a few Ultraverse comics too... my favorite being Prototype. My friend had a few issues of a guy named Megaton, who was a lot like Prime. I agree that these were all mostly forgettable characters, with some exceptions. Deathlok, though not created in the 90's, got his first series in the 90's. I thought Deathlok was very cool, but not many people seem to know about him or remember much about him. He did make appearances in the new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series and there has been attempts to make a feature film about him. | Five Forgotten Comic Heroes of the 90's | Jun 18, 2015 | ![]() |
| 1753 | Article | Vaporman87 | Sweet! I can't say I watched American Gladiators religiously, but whenever I saw it on as I flipped through channels, I stopped to see the action. My favorite events were usually the jousting and assault segments, but I also like the even where the contestant had to swing across on ropes, trying to avoid the Gladiator. There were times that I wondered if the Gladiator was not quite giving it his/her all. Like, maybe they had to hold back a bit at a director/producer's request in order to make the show exciting. I don't know though. I haven't heard anything like that from any former Gladiators or folks on the show. Still, who knows. My favorite Gladiators were Blaze and Siren (because I thought they were attractive). Among the male Gladiators, I really didn't have a favorite. My favorite event was Assault. How I wished I could be a part of that one! Watching this show was never the same for me after watching the MST3K episode "The Final Sacrifice". In that episode (if you haven't watched it, you absolutely MUST!) Mike and the Bots constantly refer to Larry Csonka because the main character's dad looks exactly like him in a photo. Just a funny little tidbit there for you to chew on. Anybody who might suggest that the competition was never fierce on the show might want to watch this clip. | American Gladiators | Jan 02, 2015 | ![]() |
| 977 | Article | Vaporman87 | Sweet! I love all these old ads. It's strange how obvious it is to us, when we see some of these, what time period these are from. EVERYTHING... from the colors and content, to the clipart and design, are almost painfully 80s. And I love it. It surprises me that marketing companies have not caught up with manufacturers, the film industry, and the gaming industry, in bringing back what worked in the 80s and 90s. One would think that having the attention of our demographic through our desire to feel nostalgia would be a great thing for marketing. Maybe that's why I'm not a marketer though. :D I always liked the gaming ads of the 80s and early 90s. They tended to try and add some form of realism to the game via the casting and photographing of somebody wearing similar clothes to the main character of the game doing some exaggerated pose.
