I can remember feeling closer to my parents once I knew it was them spending hard earned cash for the things under the tree, and I think that helped me develop a deeper sense of appreciation for all kinds of things. One of the features I really liked was when they would do a block of videos....4 In a Row I think they called it. Four straight videos without any interruptions. I loved Aeon Flux, and was a big fan of Beavis and Butthead too. And one of the highlights of my year was when they would do the spring break week. Great tv right there. A really nostalgic article. He tried to get into real drums, but wasn't very good, nut it got him into music. You never got the feeling, at least I didn't, that the show was under budget though. At least not then. Watching it again recently, you can see where a slightly bigger budget could have helped a lot though. It really is a fun series though. Well worth a look if you haven't seen it. And I too was a big fan of Just the Ten of Us. But I watched it in it's original run on ABC when it was part of TGIF!
