Jon Voight did an amazing job being a despicable person who ends up crushed in this movie, and you're SOOOO glad to see it happen by the end. And James Van Der Beek's career kind of went nowhere after this. I think, as you mention, his performance is so bad that it ended up becoming an internet meme. But man, those Garfield shapes... how did they do that? You don't see anything like that anymore on store shelves... not in a fruit chew form anyway. As far as Gushers, I did like them a lot, but like you I kind of preferred my chews without the slimy goo in the middle.
