2924ArticleRick Ace RhodesMy hometown had all kinds of stuff like this growing up. I don't know if you ever read them, but the Ghost Investigator books that written by Linda Zimmermann were based out of my hometown (or at least the first few were). I remember in middle school would always get into the Halloween mood by reading those books. All those hauntings and urban legends would always creep us out.Urban Legend visit of my youth-revisitedOct 14, 2015View
2018ArticleVaporman87My guess is that with a little less "preaching" the gospel of protecting the environment, Captain Planet could have been something bigger... and might have had increased longevity. The writers tended to focus too much on the lesson, and not enough on developing the show into something entertaining.Overrated shows from my childhoodFeb 18, 2015View

5456Articleechidna64My friends group were predominantly collectors (I think we didn't fully understand the rules of the game). The Toys R Us held Pokemon TCG tournaments weekly. My goal was just to try to catch-em all. Later on I became a big fan of the Pokemon TCG on the Gameboy Color. That's where I truly learned the mechanics of the game. 983ArticlepikachuloverMy friend used to have a huge crush on Gambit. I don't think I would have given X-Men cards in 1993. I usually went for something boys and girls would like. I think in 93 I either gave Tiny Toons or Marsupilami. For the Love of V-Day! Part 2Feb 07, 2014View

3764ArticleLazloMy first job in high school was as a cashier/stockperson at Eckerd Drugs. This was back in 1986. Eckerds has since been taken over by CVS, so it too is a relic of an earlier era (before working there, I remember going there with my family as a very young kid in the '70s). Those were the days. I do remember ringing up candy, cosmetics, cigarettes, meds of different sorts. One thing we didn't have was an ice cream counter though . . . interesting cylindrical look to that ice cream scoop!!
