3919 | Article | Vaporman87 | Obviously the most memorable was the "This is your brain on drugs" ads, but I also recall the "snake man" ad and some others you mentioned. These were mostly reminders of the state of affairs in the country at the time as opposed to actual deterrents. Even so, it is possible that somebody was affected by them enough to think twice about getting involved in the drug scene. | Jun 08, 2017
3937 | Article | Hoju Koolander | "I learned it from watching you" and the McGruff Don't Use Drugs song were my go to PSA messages. In my Summer School Health class around 1998 we watched a tape full of the Snake Drug Dealer style messages featuring everyone from Pee-Wee Herman to Gene Simmons of KISS and we were just cracking up the whole time. I recently uploaded a bunch of PSA commercials from my personal VHS collection here if anybody wants a laugh 1980s Public Service Announcements: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLG99Q5yS9Q6ymQSCBDhdqe1H0BPBWZrLr | Memories of PDFA, and other PSA’s | Jun 09, 2017
4265 | Article | DirtyD79 | I still remember the one from the late 70s and early 80s telling you "Don't drown your food." OK, what condiment related disaster was happening on such a scale that it needed a PSA? Were kids injuring themselves with ketchup bottles back then? | Memories of PDFA, and other PSA’s | Jan 04, 2018
4777 | Article | bluegrassbaby86 | I've been looking for that huffing one for a long time. I heard a radio version as a kid which scared the heck out of me. | Memories of PDFA, and other PSA’s | Jan 05, 2019
3902 | Article | Vaporman87 | The one I'm most familiar with here is California Dreams. I think of all the SBTB clones, that one stuck out to me. I think the main draw was the cast, which was not too bad. They did an admirable job of creating appealing characters and scenarios. Most of these are new to me, so it's cool to find out about them. | Attack of the “Saved by the Bell” Clones | May 26, 2017
3907 | Article | OldSchool80s | I was a big fan of Saved By The Bell the whole way. I think I saw every episode multiple times. Also not familiar with any of the shows you mentioned except a vague memory of California Dreams. | Attack of the “Saved by the Bell” Clones | May 27, 2017
3911 | Article | Hoju Koolander | California Dreams was a lot of fun. I enjoyed Sylvester's weasely schemes and Tony's "Sweet Googamoo" catch phrase. None of the songs e ever reached Zack Attack quality, but I can still remember a few of them. I rarely tuned into to T-NBC on Saturday Mornings to watch those other shows, especially after the first season of The New Class (ugh), but Saved By The Bell and Callfornia Dreams in syndication were appointment TV for me. | Attack of the “Saved by the Bell” Clones | May 28, 2017
3909 | Article | pikachulover | I really liked California Dreams a lot. I think it was the only show than ran for more than 1 season that I watched on T-NBC regularly. I only remember City Guys because KTLA used to show it to meet e/i requirements. It came on before Pokemon. I would catch the end of it while waiting to watch Pokemon. Hang Time was good, but after they really retooled it for season 2 I stopped watching. I really liked Student Bodies. I liked the cartoon element of it. I liked it because I wanted to be a cartoonist for my school paper back then. I remember there was that clumsy character named Grace. One show people don't really remember was Running the Halls. It only ran on NBC Saturday morning for one season in 1993-1994. | Attack of the “Saved by the Bell” Clones | May 28, 2017
3917 | Article | mickyarber | I have recollection of any of these. Regardless, this was a good read. | Attack of the “Saved by the Bell” Clones | Jun 07, 2017
4722 | Article | Dalek227 | I remember one more called USA High. I can't remember what channel it was on (haha maybe USA?). I remember WGN on our Satellite played Two episodes of Good Morning Miss Bliss (But on the guide it was called Saved By The Bell) and then TBS would play like four episodes of normal saved by the bell. 5 days a week. There was for sure not one episode I missed. | Attack of the “Saved by the Bell” Clones | Dec 16, 2018 |
