2101ArticleHoju Koolander@Vaporman87 there was a Dad on The Hogan Family? I only caught it sporadically during the Sandy Duncan Years, but I could have sworn it was about a widow raising her boys. That's crazy. Mar 19, 2015View
2102ArticleHoju KoolanderInteresting overview of a decade. You are about the same as as my niece, so when you mentioned Wishbone I remember watching that with her at age 4 or so (keep in mind, I was only 12 or 13). I used to call him "Fishbone" just to mess with her. I loved when Ghost Writer would follow, definitely more my style. I was never fooled by the shows that tried to make learning "fun" like Bill Nye or Beakman. At least Mr. Wizard was as boring as any science teacher, so you knew what you were getting. What the Nineties Mean to MeMar 19, 2015View
2128ArticleHoju KoolanderBrought back some memories here. One town over from where I grew up was the first time I experienced the joys of the $1.99 Store (yep, they used to get an extra dollar out of us and call it a deal). My favorite items were these orange guns that you could actually cock and shoot foam yellow bullets out of. I convinced all my buddies to get their parents to take them there and gear up so we could have shoot outs in my friend's living room. They were the best toy guns I ever owned.Poor Kids ToyboxMar 21, 2015View
2129ArticleHoju KoolanderHa, at first I thought you played racing games exclusively, but then you threw in Command and Conquer so I could relate. My older brother was a big PC Gamer and it was at his house that I played classics like Lemmings, Kings Quest 1-4, Wolfenstein 3-D, Duke Nukem and Doom. Those Encarta videos were a revelation at the time, that's for sure.My Favorite PC Games of the 90'sMar 21, 2015View
2144ArticleHoju KoolanderThis story had some good heart to it. I totally thought the main character of the game was named Metroid throughout my youth as well, it just made sense. I also appreciated your comment about the promise of fantasy's being final, which made me realize that Final Fantasy is kind of a misleading title since they keep making sequels. I wish I had shocks to report from my gaming years, but they were all pretty much spoiled by Nintendo Power. Shock Me, Shock Me, Shock Me…Mar 25, 2015View
2174ArticleHoju KoolanderA truly cinematic story. I imagined you being portrayed by a young Fred Savage, with Ariana Richarda taking on the Stacey role. Roberto would be played by Benny from The Sandlot with Jerry Mathers as "The Satanist". Good stuff.Rec Center Memories - Moment of GloryMar 29, 2015View
2178ArticleHoju KoolanderI agree with comic_book_fan, your room is worthy of an entire article. Robocop 2 poster, Batman and Magic Johnson plush dolls on the bed, a Troll doll with what looks like a rifle, Oreo bendy creature as wrll as a Robin sticker on the bookcase and is that a framed Ghostbusters logo? Did you get that as a prize at a fair or something?Rec Center Memories - Chicken FightMar 30, 2015View
2189ArticleHoju Koolander@Vaporman87 Glad to know they acknowledge the past on the new series, I did hear about the Rob Paulsen thing. Didn't they do a similar crossover with the 80's incarnation in the Turtles Forever special with the last 2-D version of the TMNT? @echidna64 I haven't seen much from that duo, although I hear the names a lot. I did watch their Bayou Billy review just to make sure I wasn't rehashing the same old stuff, when I wrote that article. I'll have to check out their thoughts on the TMNT.Turtles: The Teenage Mutant KindApr 02, 2015View
2203ArticleHoju Koolander@AnEarly90sMan I appreciate your confirmation of Turtle-Mania's official start date ;) Maybe in CA we got things going before the rest of the nation. Regarding your Technodrome correction, you are right that it came out in 1989, I meant that quote to read as more of a schoolyard rumor. But as soon as that thing hit shelves, you better believe that Brent was all over it.Turtles: The Teenage Mutant KindApr 04, 2015View
2205ArticleHoju KoolanderI definitely watched my fair share of Clarissa on those lonely SNICK watching evenings of my youth. I loved that episode where she stood up to the bulky and then ended up dating the guy for a little while. Totally unexpected turn of events, Ferguson's evil laugh was always a good time. I had heard about this pilot in the past, but never tracked it down. Thanks for posting it. The creator of the show did a great interview on The AV Club a while back if you want to red it here http://www.avclub.com/article/clarissa-explains-it-all-creator-mitchell-kriegman-208535Clarissa Now - A ReviewApr 07, 2015View
