Long Lost 90s: Collection 1
The Nabisco Thing
The Nabisco Thing first appeared in 1996 and is based off of the logo of Nabisco. It is as it looks, the logo with arms and legs. They usually brought him out for contests and promotions on packages. My thoughts on it are pretty mixed, I can see why it is called the Nabisco Thing since it isn't the best designed character out there and I can see why it was forgotten because of how rarely he was used. However it is fun to find people that remember this mascot and it sort of embodies the mid nineties with the mix of colors and how oddly simple it is.
Planet Lunch
Planet Lunch was a rewards program that ran from 1997 to 1999 where lunch box sized bags of Frito Lay chips had codes that you could use to get points to get prizes such as small radios to gym bags and bikes. I personally didn't participate in it when I was younger, but I remember the ads the most as well as the standees that they had in grocery stores. It had what looked like a telescope with binoculars that you can look into. I forgot what they had in the binoculars though.
Iam Hungry
Iam Hungry was part of the McDonaldland cast that was short lived, only starring in a couple commercials, a few toys, and a direct to video movie called The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald: The Visitors from Outer Space. I tried to find the special that he is in and wasn't able to find it. I remember a couple of the ads he was in, though nothing else outside of that. I was surprised to find out that people remember him while researching for this article.
