Retro Fast Food That is No More

Fast food is part of culture in America, we grew up with it and we go to it when we are short on time. Fast Food always has new things to offer to customers, some good, some bad, some weird. These are the food products in fast food that started out as a good idea, but ended as a bad one. Only rule is that the release has to be pre 2000s. So how about we start with breakfast, shall we?

Burger King's Cini minis: 1998 - 2000s

With fast food places open for breakfast, it was a matter of time before cinnamon rolls made it to menus. In 1998 Burger King did just that and they were just that, mini cinnamon rolls. They tasted just as good and even had a cup of frosting to dip. I haven't been able to find a discontinue year, but from what I could dig up, it was around the time they switched over to a different brand of cinnamon bun that they were discontinued.

Mcdonald's Pizza: 1989 - 2000 (Mostly)

Can you believe that at one point Mcdonalds actually served pizza? Well in 1989 they did it used to be full sized pizzas before going to personal pizza sizes, until it was mostly discontinued in 2000 due to how long it took to make the pizza which was around eleven minutes, with only two locations left still selling it. So while not completely gone, it is very hard to find.

Wendy's Super Bar: 1988 - 1998

In 1988 Wendy's brought out their Super Bar, which was just a large all you can eat salad bar with other options like Italian, salad, and Mexican food. Which gives you an option to make a meal from it if you wanted to. However like all salad bars they tend to get messy and it costs a lot to operate it and restock it which eventually led to the downfall of the Superbar in 1998.

While these are just three examples, there are plenty more failed experiments in fast food history to cover, mostly from Mcdonalds. As the saying goes, for every success, there is a road of failures. Until next time, live life and live Nostalgic.

In the early 2000s Burger King also had chili. I liked it better than Wendy's chili, unfortunately BK ended up dropping it from their line-up some time ago.

@TDitH: It was. It was this Summer actually. Last time I ordered a pizza there I did so through the drive-thru. Big mistake. LOL. 30 minutes later I still didn't have a pizza, so I just left. You definitely needed to order ahead toward the end there.

It must have been VERY recent Vapor, because I got the information from articles mere months ago.

Since this article was first written, both locations serving the pizza were forced to stop doing so. This is unfortunate because my location was one of the two, and it brought in people from all over the country.

I thought McDonald's Pizza was totally extinct, but now you're telling me there are 2 locations that still serve it? Pair that with a McSalad Shaker and I'm ready to roll!

I don't think I ever had anything you mentioned in this article, but it's still a nice look at fast food's past. I am kind of surprised that McDonald's serving pizza was a thing without me ever knowing, though.
