My first CD's

As a kid I got into metal music through my family, as they were all metalheads. I would always listen to my Dad's tapes and CD's and in 1991 I finally got the courage and begged and pleaded for a CD for Christmas and my parents deemed it was time. So they got me my first CD ever. It was magical and I was so excited. When I ripped off the wrapping of the package, to my surprise they had got me a CD by one of the artists I was obsessed with and that was Ozzy Osbourne. They had got me Ozzy Osbourne's "No Rest For The Wicked". A really great album by him and the first to feature guitarist Zakk Wylde.

I loved that album and I would listen to it all the time on my Dad's stereo and it kind of started bothering him. I was using his stereo all the time, and he and my mother decided it was time for me to have my own stereo. So the next Christmas they had gotten me my own receiver, tape player, and CD player. I was so excited and thankful. That year I also had gotten some money, and in the town I lived in was a place that bought and sold video games and CD's as well as having a cool arcade. Well I decided I wanted to get some more CD's. The ones I saw immediately were Twisted Sister's "Big Hits And Nasty Cuts" and Stryper's "To Hell With The Devil".

They were both wise choices and after that the floodgates had been opened. I then remember getting Alice Cooper's The Last Temptation when it first came out with the comic book which of course I loved. I also got Bad4Good's Refugee. If you don't know about Bad4Good, they were the band that featured teenage actor Danny Cooksey from Salute Your Shorts and Terminator 2.

Then one year for Christmas I was given Megadeth's Youthanasia for Christmas the year the album came out and it came with a t-shirt I was not allowed to keep because it had profanity on it. After that I got tons more CD's that I do not remember. But those first few CD's I do remember and wish I still had. I am still a huge music collector to this day and will always will be. As a matter of a fact today I just bought Alice Cooper's Go To Hell CD online. Collecting things will never leave me and I am proud of that.

So what were some of the first CD's you remember getting? Let me know in the comments.

Mine was the Rugrats Movie soundtrack, but it was actually months later I would get my own by only one group. That album was Bringing Down The Horse by The Wallflowers, which, ironically, turns 20 this year.

My first CD was Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness, which I still own. It was a mysterious media format to me in the mid 90's, being so devoted to listening and recording on audio cassettes.

My first ever cassette purchase was MC Hammer's 2 Legit 2 Quit. Shamefully, my first CD wasn't much better since it was Hootie and the Blowfish's Cracked Rear View.

The first album I ever purchased was Information Society's self titled release. That was in cassette format though. I am not sure what my first CD purchase was.
