Benjanime's Top Ten Halloween Candies
10. Cow Tales
Cow Tales was one of those kinds of candies that I rarely got to eat. My parents didn't seem to buy them all that much, so getting one or two of them on Halloween night was pretty nice. The chocolate ones are my favorite flavor, with caramel in a close second.
9. Chocolate Chip Cookies/Oreos/Animal Crackers
As if I didn't already have enough of these at home, cookies of any brand will still be dubbed as Halloween candy in my book. Thankfully I never came across any raisin oatmeal cookies in my bag, otherwise I'd have given them to my brother.
8. M&M's
Whether it was chocolate or peanut filled, M&M's were pretty common bag fillers, so it was no surprise that I got several helpings of them from every other person on the block. I wasn't fond of the Minis though, what's the point of making snack pieces smaller than they already are?
7. Laffy Taffy
I'm not as much of a fan of sticky candies as I used to be, but Laffy Taffy was one candy that my family would see me eat a lot of. It might've given me a cavity or two back in the day but I loved the different flavors. On the other hand, I think it was also a candy that my brother and sister loved to grab out of my bag.
6. Sour Gummi Worms
I never really got to eat this kind of candy until my late childhood came along, but it's not exactly sour enough to make my mouth implode. Some brands of gummi worms that I ate either had too much sugar coating, or just a regular amount that I could handle anyway.
5. Candy Corn
You can't go wrong with the regular non-brand Halloween candies, and candy corn became an instant favorite for me growing up. As far as the non-chocolate candies went for me, this candy was a good change of pace with the ordinary flavor to it.
4. Skittles
Just like the M&M's, I got this candy pretty often too. By my late time in trick or treating there were already a variety of different Skittles flavors, like berry and tropical, but I'll always take the original Skittles over them.
3. Snickers
Fun size or not I couldn't go wrong with these, and to my surprise my whole family liked them too so I did manage to stash a few of my own. Anything with chocolate and caramel gets an instant favorite for me, and Snickers is no exception.
2. 3 Musketeers
And coming into second from chocolate bars with caramel is of course 3 Musketeers. I take this over Snickers because of the lack of peanut filling, but either way both candy bars are pretty good.
1. Butterfinger
Yes, of all the previous candies on my list Butterfinger takes the cake, err, bag. The commercials pretty much defined it in short, "crispity, crunchity, peanut-buttery", and it soon became my most favorite Halloween treat of all, even if it wasn't the most bagged candy for me.
Well guys and ghouls, that wraps up this year's Halloween article for me. I can't guarantee if I have anything planned to write for next year's Halloween, but for now it's under wraps. See ya!

Yeah, Butterfinger was your crack addiction back in the day, lol. Hands down your favorite candy bar of all time as a kid.

Hmmm, come to think of it... I don't think I'VE ever eaten a Cow Tail either.

Wow, great list! I actually like your list mostly because it's so different than what mine would look like (that's the fun in this for me, seeing what others love about Halloween). You know, I don't think I've *ever* eaten a cow tail!

I forgot to mention Starburst. Especially strawberry or orange (NO lemon or cherry please!!!).

Peanut butter is my kryptonite, since I am allergic. My favorite Halloween candies would be anything unique received, like last year my boys got gummy brains in a jar. I like Kit Kats, Twix, Hershey bars and Hershey's with almonds, M and Ms (it won't let me use an ampersand?), York Peppermint Patties, and anything gummy but especially gummy Lifesavers.

thanks vapor! now that i think about it i probably should've added an honorable mention list, i've eaten zero bars and whatchamacallits as well, but they were never given to me as halloween candy.
Vaporman87 Posted on Oct 05, 2015 at 05:24 PM
Great list Ben. I'm really loving the title and closing images! Great selection of candy here, though I would probably have put Whatchamacallit at the top of mine. Zero bars would also be in there, but I wouldn't often get those as they didn't come in "fun" size.
